I’m starting to get the hang of sewing, but it’s never bad to learn from a pro with decades of experience, so I made the pilgrimage to my hometown on the Greyhound chariot and took a seat at the bench of my mothers knowledge. Mom made a skirt.

Overall, I am happy with how my sewing is progressing. For example, I got the shape of the placket right which makes me happy, now I just need to square up my corners a bit better. I think the fit & execution of my collar is decent but I need to improve at my button holes.

My siblings and I were at my mom’s place last weekend to celebrate her birthday so my little nephew and I took the time to film a little story: The tale of the two swordsmen.

I also took the time to sew a button-up shirt for myself this week. It’s been too long since I’ve made one AND I want some more, so it only made sense.

I feel like I beat the boss of this level and am moving up. Adding a lining was a challenge, but surprisingly manageable and I know have a new skills that adds options to my arsenal.

I made a decent bomber jacket, but it lacked a lining, so this week I challenged myself to learn how to sew one.

It was a little difficult seeing as it was my first attempt, but it was quite manageable and in the end, turned out quite nicely. And to keep the pressure low, I used all thrifted & gifted fabrics.
