Yet another week and still no foot pedal for my serger. Mennonite Cornelius has a real go-get-um attitude so he toke over for the week and got to sewing some socks / cozies for his plants.
Full disclosure, he does speak Plautdietsch but I captioned the whole video.

This week’s video was a learning lesson about what it takes to dye fabric and in the end I discovered some unsavoury truths.
Last year I was blessed with plenty of opportunities so I decided to take some of those “blessings” and invested in a proper Arc’teryx Thorsen parka. It’s already been paying dividends.

I broke the foot pedal on my sewing machine so I decided to experiment with dyeing some fabric. It’s something I’ve been interested in so a perfect opportunity. Dyeing seems easy, right? I thought so too. Just put the fabric in some liquid and boom, done!
Nope. It’s a bit more complicated. It became a real learning experience for me.

Before the holidays I finished making the costume. This week, Pajama Kid got to try on his new PJs. We also did a little superhero theatre and played games.

Last week I started turning my nephew’s Pajama Kid superhero drawings into reality by sewing the top and bottom of the PJs. This week I finished the job and made the face mask & cape.
But also, this week we learn a little about his sidekick, Pajama Man.

This past week’s video was the first half of turning my nephew’s superhero drawings into reality.
They are on their 3rd set of soles, 2nd set of laces but most importantly, countless cleanings.
I don’t use anything fancy either, just an old rag to wipe down grime, a used toothbrush to clean the crevasses and some mink oil and a soft brush to treat the leather.

My nephew loves Superheroes. He is also a creative little man and he designed his own superhero: Pajama Kid. In an effort to support his artistic endeavours, I am turning his imaginations into reality and creating the Pajama Kid costume. Watch the video on YouTube
