I have this nice Aran sweater that I bought but it is a touch too big. I want to size it down a little bit but before I get to it, I’m attempting to learn the technique. Week one didn’t go so well.

I bought myself a beautiful authentic, albeit overpriced, cable knit wool sweater. I need to size it down a bit for myself. I don’t want to hack it together either, so I have decided to take the time to learn proper knitting and do a good job of it. Turns out knitting is considerably harder than I had anticipated … surprise.

Poppa Plants also showed up again and was extra mean to me this time.

The jacket is quite fitted and there is absolutely no stretch in the wax cotton, so putting it on is a bit of a pain. To solve the problem, I put a zipper in the side.

I loved the waxed cotton coat I sewed myself, but putting it on is a struggle. Between the fitted profile and the rigidity of the waxed cotton it gets difficult, so I decided to add a zipper to the side of the jacket.

We also meet Working Corn. He pays the bills around here. He also struggles to manage his emotions.

Last week I started working on transforming some t-shirts into a polo shirt. The goal was to finish said polo and … well … you’ll see.

What didn’t help either was that I had some slight sniffles.

I am using 3 different thrifted t-shirts as the fabric and turning them into a colour blocked polo. The blue one is @gildanonline, the red is from a past project and the white is @eightyeightagency

I started working on transforming some tees into a polo shirt, but then realized I had made things more difficult for myself then they needed to me. Next I had to go grab another t-shirt from the thrift store to cut up so in the mean time, Poppa Plants took over and finished out the episode.

Also, that second look is entirely me made. I had a moment of pride recognizing that this morning.

This week’s video was me making said button up shirts.

They’re clean, classic white button ups I can wear with just about anything.

I learned plenty more about making button up shirts in the process, specifically collars and plackets.

I started making 2 white button ups last week.

This week my biggest challenge was sewing the plackets. I took the time to figure out my placket pattern properly and the whole project took much more time then I had anticipated, but I got them done and it has all be worth it. I have two classic white button ups now.
